“Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek the LORD be
glad. See the LORD and His strength; seek His face continually.”
Psalm 105: 3-4
Grace Perspective:
Seeking God sounds easy, but too often the cares of this world squeeze into our thoughts when we try to spend time with the Lord. Often we wake early in the morning intending to spend time with our Father and seek His will for the day, but before long, the day’s pressures crowd our minds, and our thoughts stray to the tasks we’re facing. Other days we awake consumed with worry and fear, forgetting to seek Him at all.
Why does our Savior ask us to find Him? Because He knows our hearts are easily distracted by the worries of this world. He understands that in our frail human frame, we often treasure things that are worthless or will have no worth in light of eternity. Unbelief keeps our minds and hearts preoccupied, focused on what we see with our physical eyes. God wants us to have enough faith to know He will care for all our needs, often in ways we cannot imagine. Each day we choose to seek Him to meet our needs, or we decide to try to meet our own needs apart from Him.
A touch of grace:
How are we to seek God?
How will you seek Him today?
Grace Application:
Consciously choose today to seek His kingdom first, before the cares of the day crowd your thoughts and distract you from trusting Him to meet your needs. Make time to study His word and soak in the truth. Before you begin, pray, asking the Holy Spirit to help you avoid being distracted by the pressing needs of the day. Instead of giving God part of your mind, give His word all your attention. Allow the truth of who He is to overwhelm you. The One who created you graciously provides all you need to seek Him. Don’t let the cares of this life deprive you of knowing Him more fully.
In His Grace,
Dawn
Prayer:
Gracious Father, I come to you in the precious name of Jesus, confessing that I often let the cares of the day keep me from seeking You. Forgive me, Father, and help me to set aside the worries that so quickly consume my thoughts. Today I am choosing to trust You with (what care is utmost in your heart). Your word tells me that as I seek You and Your strength, You faithfully provide it. Lord, help me with my scattered thoughts and keep my heart and mind focused on what is important to You. Amen.
