“Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits— Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy.”
Psalm 103:2-4 AMPC
Grace Perspective:
This Psalm is a song of rejoicing for who God is and all He does for those He loves. David wrote it as a grateful praise to the One who restored his soul and redeemed him from a pit. David (and we) should remember and never forget to praise the Holy Name of Yahweh – the I AM. The LORD has healed us from the disease that leads to eternal death, our sin. God has cleansed us from the corruption that corroded our souls and hardened our hearts. Yahweh makes us beautiful and gives dignity to all His children. He weaves a crown of His loving-kindness and tender mercies for us to wear. All of this is done by the Holy, Righteous, Perfect, Patient, Loving Redeemer, who we can bless with all our hearts, minds, and souls for our gracious restoration.
A Touch of Grace:
How have you been restored?
How have you benefited from being in Christ?
Grace Application:
Yahweh, the Great I AM, has always existed and will always be the Lord over all creation. He is the God of grace who has blessed us with untold mercies. This Psalm is written to stir our hearts to worship as we remember His goodness. He has healed us from the deadly disease of sin that infected us to the core of our being. His loving-kindness and tender mercy are reasons to rejoice as we count our many blessings.
A few of the blessings I rejoice in and hope never to forget are:
~ He has redeemed my soul from Hell.
~ He has cleansed me from all sin.
~ His grace continues to sanctify me.
~ He is always with me.
~ His peace will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
~ He is my refuge.
~ He is my strength.
~ He is my joy.
His beautifying grace is continually at work in us, gradually changing our hearts to reflect more of Him. As we are restored, He weaves a crown that sparkles with the jewels of His loving-kindness, tender mercy, goodness, steadfastness, compassion, peace, and joy. Someday He will give us a crown that we can place at His feet to bless Him for His gracious restoration of our souls. Praise Him, dear friend, as you remember all His benefits.
Gracious Prayer
Gracious Father, I come to You In the precious name of Jesus Christ, my Savior, praising You for Who You are. You have graciously restored me by forgiving all my sins, every single one of them. Your loving-kindness brings healing to my broken heart, light to the dark places that haunt me, peace in the storms in my life, strength for my weary spirit, mercy for my continued struggle with sin, and joy deep in my soul. Your goodness and grace are worthy of all my praise; help me always sing Your praises. May You be glorified for who You are. Amen
