“O Lord, You are my God;
I will exalt You, I will praise and give thanks to Your name;
For You have done miraculous things,
Plans formed long, long ago, [fulfilled] with perfect faithfulness.”
Isaiah 25:1 AMP
Grace Perspective:
Faithfulness…steadfastness… trustworthiness. God, our God, has shown in the past and continues to show us now that He is faithful. God made plans long ago – go back to Genesis 3:15 – promising that one day He would send a Savior to redeem us from our sins. The beginning of this plan started when Jesus Christ came to us – a helpless babe born in a lowly manger.
As Isaiah praises the Lord – thanking Him for the miraculous things He does – we are reminded that God is faithful. Many centuries passed as the world longed for the coming of the Messiah. Many doubted that God would fulfill the promise made long ago in a garden that was nowhere to be found. But God, in His perfect faithfulness, knew the exact moment in time that Jesus Christ would make His appearance.
God’s perfect faithfulness is a promise we can hold fast to. Like Isaiah, we can worship with hearts filled with praise and thanksgiving as we remember the miraculous things He has done. Let’s rejoice in His gracious faithfulness until He comes.
A Touch of Grace:
List the ways you’ve seen God faithfully working in your life this year.
How will you praise the Lord for His faithfulness? Take a moment to express your gratitude. Whether it’s through prayer, worship, or acts of kindness, let your heart overflow with thankfulness for His unchanging faithfulness.
Grace Application:
As we close 2024, let’s look back and see how God has been faithful to us. As we look in the review mirror of this year – seeing all the places we’ve been, the people we’ve met, the adventures – or misadventures – we’ve experienced how do we view this year with God’s faithfulness in mind?
Isaiah shows us that though life often presents us with challenges we don’t expect – or want – we can praise the Lord for His faithfulness. We don’t always – or rarely – understand God’s plans or ways (see Isaiah 55: 8-9), yet we can trust His faithfulness. It’s much easier to thank God when life is good – when God’s plans align with our own. However, when life doesn’t go as we imagine, we can trust that God remains faithful.
Our belief in God’s faithfulness will deepen as we walk with Him through the ever-changing circumstances in our lives. As we look over this year, let’s focus on how His faithfulness carried us through each joy and sorrow. His faithfulness has the power to shift our perspective and fill us with hope. Let’s worship and praise Him for His gracious faithfulness.
In His Grace – Dawn
Prayer
Gracious Father, I come to You In the precious name of Jesus Christ, my Savior, thankful for Your faithfulness. Set my heart to worship and praise You. Lord, You planned each day of my life long ago – help me to trust Your goodness, grace, and steadfast love even when life doesn’t make sense. Deepen my faithfulness for Your glory. Amen
