“Therefore, since we have been justified [that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God] by faith, [let us grasp the fact that we have peace with God [and the joy of reconciliation with Him through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) Through Him we also have access by faith into this [remarkable state of] grace in which we [firmly and safely and securely] stand. Let us rejoice in our hope and the confident assurance of [experiencing and enjoying the glory of [our great] God [the manifestation of His excellence and power].”
Romans 5:1-2 AMP
Grace Perspective:
All stand condemned under the law, but grace…two words that change everything. We are saved from the penalty of the law, which is death, by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. Because Jesus bore the penalty for our sin upon the cross, once we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that He is LORD, we are saved by faith to have peace with God through Jesus Christ.
Once we are justified by faith, our standing before God is secure. We, who were doomed to hell because of our sin, now have unlimited access to the Father who loves us. What a reason to rejoice! Grace enables us to stand firm as we rejoice in the hope of the glory of heaven that waits for all who are in Christ Jesus.
A Touch Of Grace
What evidence do you see in your life that you have been justified by grace?
What does “hope of the glory of God” mean?
Grace Application:
“Justified by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.” This powerful truth gives strength to my often frail faith. Frail when I let the chaos of life consume my thoughts and unbalance my thinking. I find myself thinking more about my circumstances, forgetting to turn my thoughts to God. This passage reminds us that through Christ, we have obtained faith through grace that secures our Father’s love and mercy. Today we can be secure in the peace with have with the Father because of our faith in Christ Jesus. Remember, through Christ Jesus, we have access to the throne of grace, where we can bring all our chaos to the One who is peace. Remember your gracious standing is because Christ Jesus chose to bear the penalty for our sin so that we have everlasting peace with God. Rejoice with hope!
Gracious Prayer:
Gracious Father, I come to you in the precious name of Jesus Christ. Thank you for the peace that comes because I am justified by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. Help me remember what this peace cost You, and let me never take it for granted. Lord, help me keep my focus on You when life is chaotic so that you are glorified. Help me keep You at the center of my heart and trust that because of my gracious standing in Christ Jesus. Amen
