“Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth;
For I am God, and there is no other.”
Isaiah 45:22
Grace Perspective:
Turn…Look…be saved. This passage reveals the simplicity of salvation. We turn away from the distractions, the false comforts, and look to Him, the One who is patiently waiting for us. He longs for us to turn away from the deceptive lures the world offers. You know the ones that promise beauty, wealth, health, companionship….but leave us empty and wanting more.
God reminds us that there is no other God besides Him. No one can save us from our sin but God. No one can promise eternal life with Him but God. No one can heal our wounds but God. No one can give us the strength to endure hardships with grace and dignity but God. God is waiting for us to look to Him for all we need. So let’s make the gracious turn towards God.
A Touch of Grace:
Where do you turn for help?
What will turn you away from in order to turn towards God?
Grace Application:
What path are you currently taking? Are you satisfied with the direction you are heading? Do you feel lost, lonely, scared, anxious? Are you weary of the path you’re on and want an easier trail to follow for a while? Do you feel like you’re walking to the ends of the earth, dragging through a wilderness you didn’t choose?
The Lord wants us to turn towards Him, or as another translation of this passage says, look to Him. He is the Author and Perfecter of our faith. (Hebrews 12:2). Throughout Scripture, God calls us to turn towards Him and away from the sin that entangles us, causing us to stumble and fall.
What do we see when we turn and look at our Savior? We see the Son of God who willingly laid aside His glory, His Kingship, His throne in heaven to come to earth. He chose to take the penalty for our sin upon Himself so we can be completely forgiven.
We see His mercy, grace, steadfast love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. In Him, we have a light that will illuminate the path He wants us to follow, trusting Him to be a Good Shepherd. If we follow, He will lead us through storms, fire, and even a barren wilderness. As we seek Him, Jesus will give us strength to endure the sanctification process that slowly strips away the things that aren’t important.
Doubt and fear continually hound my steps. Doubt in myself that I’m not enough. Fear that I will never be enough, that my failures will always define me. This is a lie from the pit of Hell. First of all, self is an idol and the center of my doubt and fear. Who am I looking to – self. Ugh…self is a greedy idol that wants to be fed constantly! Truth tells me that I need to turn away from looking at myself and focus my eyes on Jesus. He is more than enough.
“In Him we have redemption [that is, our deliverance and salvation] through His blood, [which paid the penalty for our sin and resulted in] the forgiveness and complete pardon of our sin, in accordance with the riches of His grace.”
Ephesians 1:7 AMP
Do you want to change the path you’re on? What burdens weigh you down, making the journey even harder? Are you carrying unbelief, unforgiveness, bitterness, pride, fear,….? Today, turn and look towards Jesus. And let Him look into your heart, all of it! What are you afraid of? What secrets are you trying to hide from God? Sister, let me tell you He already knows it all, and HE LOVES YOU! Draw close to Him and know that He will be there to meet with you when you do. He’s ready and waiting. Are you ready? Look towards Jesus and know that He will graciously turn towards you.
“But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him; Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.” Isaiah 40:31 AMP
Prayer
Gracious Father, I come to You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, my Savior, thankful that You are waiting for me to look to You. Forgive me for looking to anything else for comfort, strength, and satisfaction. For in You, I am loved, accepted, and saved. Help me rest in the truth that You alone are God, and You will supply all I need: love, comfort, peace. Help me to wait on You and renew my strength to follow You.
Amen
